Martijn Fokker rejoins our design department
This is a man who loves the impossible. After seven years, we welcome Martijn Fokker back to the Comtest family. “I have been working at Comtest for 16 years and thought it was time for something different, but there’s something about these chamber projects that kept me coming back,” says Martijn.

If there is one piece of advice the De Groot brothers, owners of Comtest and DMAS, can give you, it is to stay calm and follow your own path. “The world is changing faster and faster, and markets panic from time to time. As owners of these family-owned companies, we always hold on to our company principles,” says Bas de Groot of Comtest Engineering.
In its 40 years of existence, Comtest has encountered a wide range of market-related challenges. Rik de Groot, who manages sister company Dutch Microwave Absorber Solutions (DMAS), recalls one very clearly.
Rik: “When we decided to invest in making our own absorbers, we received a lot of scepticism from the market. People wondered whether we could develop high-quality absorbers and keep pace with the market. Now, more than 15 years later, we have moved beyond competing with the market and launched a better alternative to traditional absorbers: our closed-cell Javelin Tip absorber family, which I’m holding in the photo. As a company, we believe in a better and safer world. This new generation of absorbers contributes to a cleaner and healthier work environment whilst maintaining all the performance specifications,” he said.
Bas de Groot: “True, we believe that technical innovation is just as important as innovation in well-being. After all, we create chambers for people to work in. Look at the market for shielded chambers, for example. We are now working on an innovation that makes it much easier for people to work in these chambers. I cannot give too many details at the moment, but 2026 will be a year full of innovations!”
Rik: “We stand for high-quality solutions for the long term. Sometimes we set higher demands than our clients, but that’s just how we work. We will never settle for mediocrity; we haven’t in the past forty years, and we won’t in the next forty.”
