Martijn Fokker rejoins our design department
This is a man who loves the impossible. After seven years, we welcome Martijn Fokker back to the Comtest family. “I have been working at Comtest for 16 years and thought it was time for something different, but there’s something about these chamber projects that kept me coming back,” says Martijn.

Why and when did we start developing and producing absorbers for our chambers? This year marks our 40th anniversary, and every five weeks, we share a bit of Comtest’s history.
It was 2009, and our founder, Hein de Groot, was guiding the company in a new direction. His eldest son, Bas de Groot, was committed to taking over the firm, and Hein, who was already 60 years old at the time, decided to undertake one final venture for Comtest Engineering: developing a new type of polystyrene absorber to make the company more independent in the future. Hein is the man second from the right in the first photo with the Delta team (now: FORCE Technology).
Bas de Groot (fourth from the left in the first photo) remains impressed by his father’s vision and energy during his final days as managing director.
Bas: “His mission to constantly prepare the company for the long term is typical of family-owned businesses. And we still cherish that drive and culture today. It was an incredible moment when our first absorbers were unveiled to the public at EMC 2012 in Rome, as shown in the second photo, featuring a forever young Uliana Trucchi. We created a new company for the development and production of the absorbers called Dutch Microwave Absorber Solutions, led by my brother Rik de Groot.”
Are there any upcoming product launches?
Rik de Groot (in the third photo with the new Mobile Absorber Wall): “Yes, we are working hard on developing a new wedge absorber. I cannot go into details yet, but we are planning to launch this new product in the first quarter of next year. So keep following the Comtest news on LinkedIn or the website to stay up to date.”
Bas de Groot: “We are seeking early adopters for our new dust-free, rigid EPS wedge absorber and are offering an exclusive early-bird discount. Please let us know in the comments if you’re interested or send a direct message to me.”
We thank the team at FORCE Technology for their loyalty over more than 15 years and for trusting us to be the launch customer for these new absorbers. Thank you, Per Thåstrup Jensen, Inge Lise Bank Melgaard and Martin Randrup Villadsen.
